ecto and TextPad

ecto: I just purchased ecto, one of the best blogging tools, especially for the mac platform. (There is a windows version, too.) It seems that there are some bugs with WordPress 2.2.2 but I am not sure that they are solely due to ecto or WordPress, maybe both. But the more I get used to ecto, the more I like it. It’s very easy and intuitive. It remembers your previous settings for virtually everything and there are also ‘Primary’ and ‘Make default’ for your convenience so that you can save a lot of clicks that you used to do with your browser. It’s US$17.95 and I think it’s a bargain. Since they offer 21-day trial version, you should check it out!

TextPad: I love this one. Kind of, de-facto standard editor for Ruby on Rails. It provides bundles for virtually every languages and scripts on the earth so that you will find comfort writing codes using it. But be aware that it lacks CJK (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) support. The developer said version 2.0 will do, but not until the release of Leopard. :-( Except that one, it’s just great. Oh, right! I missed one very important thing. It’s quite over-priced, €39. But once you get used to it, you can’t live a day without it. They also offer 30-day trial version. Check it out. But I warned you already, you will be its slave. Also check out my favorite skin: Vibrant Ink.
