How to hack YouTube on iPhone
Sunday, September 9th, 2007If you failed to hack nothing but YouTube on your iPhone, this procedure will help. Please follow the instructions on the Hack the iPhone site. If it doesn’t work for you, here’s your next step.
Note: The instructions on the hack the iPhone site is just how-to of copying the 3 files from the YouTube activated iPhone to your iPhone. If you don’t have the 3 files (data_ark.plist, device_private_key.pem, and device_public_key.pem) , start to google.
Connect to your iPhone with your FTP client on your Mac/PC and you will see the following 2 folders.
Library
Media
Then, move to the Lockdown folder: Library > Lockdown. Download Lockdown folder to your computer. Since you already done the steps on the Hack the iPhone site you’ll find modified data_ark.plist file in the folder.
Be cautious from now on. (I recommend you to back the downloaded Lockdown folder before you proceed.)
1. Open it with your text editor. Find the code starting <key>-DeviceCertificate</key> and you will also find <data> tag with a long string ending with </data> tag. Copy this whole section to your clipboard. Now you copied the DeviceCertificate and its data.
2. There are 2 folders, “activation_records” and “pair_records” under Lockdown folder. You will see a few .plist files in those folders. You have to open all the .plist files in those folders and find & replace the DeviceCertificafe section manually, one by one. Notice that there should be ‘-’ in front of “DeviceCertificate” key value or it won’t work.
3. If you replaced all the sections in those files, upload the modified Lockdown folder to iPhone.
4. Restart your iPhone and you will find YouTube is now working.
Enjoy your happy iPhone life.
Note: It works on 1.02 firmware.
